Danish photojournalist Carsten Snejbjerg, born in 1966, became interested in photography during a 3,400-kilometre bicycle trip through China and Vietnam in 1997. He has since won several awards including the Grand Prix Care du Reportage Humanitaire (2010), first prize for POYi Issue reporting (2008) and several awards in the Danish Picture of the Year competition.

Antonio Aragón Renuncio

Antonio Aragón Renuncio has been involved with photography since the mid-1990s. He founded and chairs “Nostromo” Photographers Association (Spain), has been a university photography professor for more than fifteen years, and organises and directs the Photography Festival of Santander. He is the publisher of Xplorer Magazine (Nicaragua) and the general manager of Xtreme PhotoWS (Burkina Faso).

Abdullah Shayagan

Abdulla Shayagan was born in 1990 in Afghanistan’s Bamyan province into a farming family. His interest in photography began during a three-month journalism training programme that in turn led to him enrolling in a 3rd Eye photojournalism training programme. Now an active member of 3rd Eye, his work has been exhibited in Afghanistan and abroad. He now works as a freelance writer and photographer.

Jenny Matthews

Jenny Matthews is an award-winning photographer and teacher. Since 1982 she has been documenting social issues in Britain and abroad, particularly focusing on the consequences of war on the lives of women and children and the issues of dispossession and human rights. Her project “Women and War” resulted in a book and touring exhibition.

Since 2009, Hamburg-based Bente Marei Stachowske has worked as a photojournalist documenting social and environmental issues. Her work has taken her to Malawi, South Sudan, Gambia, USA, India and Chile. She also undertakes assignments for non-governmental organisations, enterprises and newspapers. Her work has been exhibited in California, London, Hamburg and Quito.

Alessandro Vincenzi is a self-trained documentary photographer with a special interest in stories about Eastern Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union. His career as a photographer started at the end of 2008 after working for almost five years with Medecins Sans Frontieres as a biologist. He is based in Barcelona, Spain, where he lives with his partner Rosemarie and his son Matias.
